E is for Easter, Card

Happy Good Friday to all!

In Honor of Good Friday and Easter Weekend ahead of us I thought I would share my 2008 Easter Card with you.

The inspiration for this card came from my local scrapbook store~ they had a demo card using the background stamp and flocked bunnies. But, my final card turned out completely different than the original idea and my original plan! Funny how that works out… sometimes my mental vision just doesn’t work out properly on paper IRL.

Using the background stamp was the first thing I did to make these. Because I started these suckers in February I thought I had plenty of time to take them a step further to add more FLAIR~ Secondly, I colored in different parts of each word bubble, and then decided to stickle inside some of the letters. Once dry the white was too stark so I chalked the edges with Stampin Up! Pink chalk. I felt it needed to be mated on some card stock so chose the Bazzill Chocolate (for the texture) then HAD to add a bow- it is a spring card, after all! ;) Still looked too stark (to me) so I chalk inked the pink card.

What next? The card sat around for a couple more weeks before I decided to cut a circle out of the card because the bunnies (which were intended to go on the front, just didn’t look right there). Hadn’t used my foam stamps in awhile so found an “E” that fit inside the circle. Used a white signo pen to create dots inside the circle but wanted a softer look. The most excited technique, which I am most proud of, is cutting a circle punch out of the center of the scallop punch to get the very thin scallops!! Love the look sooo much! Still felt more was needed to I glued little beads in between each scallop- another cutsey touch.

Inside of Card & The Bunnies during Create-tion:

Recipe: Stampendous! “Edible Easter Border”, color pencils, Stampin Up! Classic ink in Chocolate Chip, Cricut Cartridge: Celebrations, Heidi Swapp foam stamps, making memories brown acrylic paint, circle punch, Stampin up! Ribbon & chalks, Stampendous! “Fun Flock”, Water color pencils, Water brush & Staz-on ink in basic black.

Techniques: Each bunny is hand cut (took 4-ever); water colored & once dry applied “Fun flock” inside each little ear and bellies. I decided not to stamp out the inside saying because like journaling in my scrapbooks I love to put a personal touch by using my own handwriting AND the card had already taken sooooo long to put together that I was just frankly over it! LOL. DH helped me figure out the cute saying inside: Some Bunnies Luv you, Hoppy Easter”.

The card may not look like a whole lot took place, but all in all it represents HOURS of creative thinking… almost a month worth of sitting around, looking at it, pulling it off the shelf to add another element.
