I used the 2008 Sale-A-Bration “Merci” stamp set. This card was a lot of fun! My first inclination with this stamp set was to use the stamp in the set with the Heart with the flower coming out the top, but decided to try something “out of the box” with the set and focus on the butterfly (which are so “IN” right now!)
Techniques: Stamped the butterflies with black staz-on ink. Then used Watercolor paint to lightly go in and color each butterfly and the background. Once dry I added Stickles to the back ground only and smeared it so it glimmered oh- so slightly. The watercolor background is very pale and so I made another card in pastels just to see which I liked better~ what do you think?
The watercolor background called out for a butterfly to float on top of, so I stamped another butterfly but colored it with SU! Markers then stickled it to add shimmer. Cut her out and then pop dotted her wings but glued her body down ~ hopefully you will agree she appears to be floating through the air.
This card is cut from an 8.5x11 but cut to the 11 inch instead of the 8.5 side. So, there is a small difference in appearance because I wanted a longer look with out having to cut out of a 12x12 piece. I really like the look and am excited to be able to have more variations in the cards by cutting the sheet different.
Got to use the sewing machine on this one too! LOL, loving the REAL stitch lines instead of Rub-ons (which I’m out of anyways).
Wanted to add some diagonal balance to the card from the Merci at the bottom to the opposite corner (learned this technique from sbing) so, added ONE photo corner to draw the eye up… then the eye would go to the pop-dotted butterfly, then the knot in the ribbon down to the merci sentiment.
Recipe: Merci Stamp Set, SU Real Red Card Stock, SU markers, SU Brass Templates (Dots), SU Red grosgrain ribbon, Watercolors, Water brush, stickles, pop dots.
