Thank you, Card

I created Thank You cards for my baby showers! Each little china doll is individually water colored, hand cut & they each have little beads adorning their hair. I wanted to wait to post the cards until the baby showers with my crafty friends were complete -- so anyone who visits my blog would be surprised when they received my thank you's!

I worked on them most of 2010. And, at the time we thought we would be matched with a baby girl. Thus, the images are of little China dolls! We are over joyed with the matching of our son and we can't wait to meet him!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers through the years! We will be headed towards our answered prayer- our son, very soon!!

Card Swap Card

I was the hostess for the March Card Swap group. So, I got to choose the theme! It's been awhile since I've used clear acetate on cards so I made an easy decision to make that the theme! (use any clear acetate, window, ghost letter/image, window sheet, etc on a card.)

I used transparencies on the front of the card. I purchased these at my local office supply store...just went up to the print department and purchased single sheets. However, Stampin' Up and local craft stores sell similar items for craft projects. In this picture you can see all I did was use my stayz-on ink and carefully stamp the image on the transparency (which I pre-cut to fit the front of my card.

On the front of the card stock I stamped silhouette style images in various colors. This was the "hardest step" to making this card. I would place the transparency (already stamped) over the cardstock and hold the pre-inked stamp image over where the butterflies were & carefully slide the acetate off the card and quickly stamp the spot with the image. Sometimes I got it perfect and others I was just slightly off.

I debated how best to attach the acetate to the front of the card. Ultimately I made a topper tent fold piece to glue all the pieces together. The topper hid the adhesive that stuck the acetate to the card.
