Did you ever make salt dough ornaments when you were a kid? I remember very vividly having my hand print for years, hanging on my family Christmas tree, made from salt dough tinted green.
I duplicated the idea from this recipe I found on pinterest:
2 C Flour
1/2 C Salt
3/4 C water
green food coloring
And, this was the first ornament I painted (sitting on top of Zachary's artwork), Front:

Zachary's hand print doesn't show up well in the photograph. However, in real life it shows up just fine. I couldn't help but decorate the back of the ornament too.

And, after I painted the polka dots I thought to myself, why not make his hand print into something...

hmmm....snowmen! So, I painted the remaining ornaments just the same way.

I used the crafting acrylic paints that I have in my stash to paint the ornaments. Easy & Precious!
