Festive Thanksgiving Hats

Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
In celebration of Thanksgiving, we made silly festive hats for a family portrait photo. All the hat designs came from pins on pinterest.com I am just addicted to that site! If you happen to be on pinterest too I would love it if you found me - my pinterest profile pic is a chihuahua in a fancy hat and my pinterest name is Julia Miller.

Anyways, back to thanksgiving hats... my 2yr old son helped make the Indian hats by coloring the paper in fall colors. He loves to help Mommy especially when coloring is involved!
For all the hats we used the extra large crayola floor pad. It worked very nicely! The paper was large enough to make the female pilram hats too!

And, for ease, below are the links to the Pilgram Hats instructions.

Also, I did not round the corners of the Male Pilgram Hat. Each one used 1-12x12 black cards stock. And, the bands on the hats were custom fit to each person from left over strips of the floor pad paper.

As far as the Indian Headdresses are concerned I just winged it! Each head band was 3 inches long. And, for the older kids two strips were cut and taped to the size of the children's heads. And, i just hand cut the feathers out of card stock pieces.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are still in the process of decorating our home for Christmas. We are very excited to be celebrating the holidays for the very first time with our son! I have been making a few Christmas ornaments and will be sharing those with you all very soon.

Ho, Ho, Ho!!
